TRADITIONAL NANNY ROLE DESCRIPTION

A nanny's duties primarily revolve around the care and supervision of children, encompassing their physical, emotional, and developmental needs. This includes activities like feeding, bathing, dressing, changing diapers, and ensuring the children's safety. Beyond basic care, nannies often organize educational and recreational activities, assist with homework, and may also be responsible for light housekeeping related to the children.

Here's a more detailed look at common nanny duties:

Childcare:

  • Daily Care:
Feeding, bathing, dressing, and changing diapers.
  • Supervision:
Ensuring the children's safety and well-being during playtime, outings, and nap time.
  • Emotional Support:
Providing a nurturing and loving environment to foster emotional development.
  • Educational Activities:
Engaging children in age-appropriate learning activities, such as reading, crafts, and games.
  • Playdates and Outings:
Arranging and supervising playdates and outings to promote social development.

Household Responsibilities:

  • Light Housekeeping: Tidying play areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms.
  • Laundry: Washing and folding children's clothes and linens.
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing meals and snacks for the children.
  • Grocery Shopping: Purchasing food and household items.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Transportation: Driving children to school, activities, and appointments.
  • Homework Assistance: Helping children with their homework.
  • Communication with Parents: Keeping parents informed about the children's daily activities and any issues.
  • Maintaining Logs: Keeping records of the children's daily activities and development.

It's important to note that specific duties can vary depending on the family's needs and the nanny's qualifications. Some families may require more extensive housekeeping or meal preparation, while others may prioritize childcare-focused tasks. Clear communication and mutual agreement are crucial to ensure a successful nanny-family relationship.

NANNY/HOUSEHOLD MANAGER HYBRID ROLE DESCRIPTION
